The first ever trailer for Coco is here and it looks like the best Pixar film yet

by Emmy Griffiths

Coco is the only Pixar film of 2017 that won't be a sequel, and from the trailer it looks like it might well be one of Pixar's best films yet! The trailer follows the story of Miguel, who is obsessed with the famous musician Ernesto de la Cruz and wants to be just like him. The little boy eventually finds himself in the Land of the Dead, and the trailer has given a sneak peek into the dazzling look of the film ahead of its release in December.

Fans were quick to discuss the new trailer, which was directed by Lee Unkrich, whose credits include Monsters, Inc, Finding Nemo and Toy Story 3. One wrote: "Well this is looking a bit lovely from @DisneyPixar! Can't wait for #coco." Another revealed that the trailer had made them emotional, adding: "Ok, now I'm crying." Speaking about creating a film representing Mexican culture, the Coco writer Adrian Molina said: "It opened up a great conversation—to be able to meet with people—because we understood there was such a responsibility. The great thing about it is that when we talk with our consultants—or even in my experience coming from a Mexican background—it creates a conversation of what the celebration means to them."
