Will Smith is reportedly in talks to fill the late Robin Williams' shoes as the Genie in the live-action adaptation of Aladdin. The news hit a chord on Twitter, and many fans were quick to make jokes about the dad-of-three taking on the iconic role. Referencing Will's hit sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, one user tweeted: "Make way for Fresh Prince Ali," while another joked: "In a magic lamp is where I spent most of my days."

Another fan suggested that the film could be based on Will's rom-com film Hitch, writing: "I predict the Genie will try to set Aladdin up with Jasmine and this really a secret sequel to Hitch." It appeared that many fans were excited about the star taking on the role, with another adding: "A Will Smith rap version of You Ain't Never Had a Friend Like Me has some serious potential." Some fans spoke about Will replacing Robin, who tragically passed away back in 2014, suggesting that he is the only actor who could take on the iconic role. "No one will ever beat Robin Williams' portrayal of Genie, but I think that Will Smith would do the character justice," one wrote. Another added: "Robin will always be the Genie in my eyes; but, Will Smith is the only actor that can make this role his own."
