Former Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas, who is married to Coronation Street actress Kym Lomas, is joining EastEnders. The actor, who has a two-year old daughter with former Hear'say singer Kym, will arrive in Walford as Jake Stone, a womaniser and recovering alcoholic. His character be seen on screen from September. "I'm over the moon to be joining the cast of EastEnders," said Jamie. "I have admired the show for many years and I can't wait to start working with such a strong cast of actors." "Jake Stone is a great character to play and I'm really looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into the role."

Executive Producer Lorraine Newman confirmed the actor's signing. "We're delighted to welcome Jamie to the world of Walford,” she said. “I have no doubt he'll make a big impact on screen as Jake Stone. "The show's about to enter a really exciting period, which Jamie will be a huge part of, with a great storyline allowing him to truly shine." Ladies man Jake will arrive in Albert Square after a string of bad luck, looking for a fresh start. His good looks and seductive personality will make him a hit with Walford's residents. Jamie previously played Hollyoaks villain Warren Fox for five years, leaving the soap in 2011. During his time at the Chester-based soap, Jamie's character Warren was involved in some of the soap's most dramatic storylines, including one in which Warren faked his own death. Jamie has also had minor roles in Brookside and Heartbeat.

Jamie's arrival in Albert Square marks an exciting summer for the soap. Earlier this year it was announced that Samantha Womack would be returning to the soap as Ronnie Mitchell after a two-year break. Another former Hollyoaks actor, Gary Lucy, is joining the soap later this year after a brief stint in EastEnders in 2012. After the announcement of his signing, Jamie took to Twitter to show his appreciation for the positive reaction. "Just wanted to say thank you to everybody for all the lovely comments, just can't wait now to join such an amazing cast ‪#superexcited‬," he wrote.
