Get Vera Farmiga’s red-carpet look

by hellomagazine.com It wasn’t just The Hurt Locker sweeping the board at the Baftas. Official beauty partner to the awards, Lancome did a pretty good job, too – literally. the company's make-up artists made up most of the stars for the red carpet, including Kate Winslet, Carey Mulligan, Kristen Stewart, Anna Kendrick, Bonnie Wright, Jaime Winstone, Anne Marie Duff and Clare Danes.

We hear most of the stars briefed the make-up artists to make sure they looked like themselves, albeit a more polished version - apart from Jaime Winstone, of course, who typically broke the mould with a high-glamour, old Hollywood look. And the key trend for the celebs was smoky eyes coupled with softly bronzed, sculpted cheeks and a touch of blush on the apples to create a rosy, feminine glow, as typified by Vera Farmiga. And as she scored George Clooney in Up In The Air, we want to know how to get her look!

Eileen Kastner Delago created a gentle romantic look, ensuring Vera’s striking blue eyes stood out against her pale complexion with her gorgeous white dress cinched in at the waist with a black band. She started with a foundation containing light-reflecting particles - the first time Vera’s been happy to try a new foundation before such a high-profile event, apparently – using Photogenic Lumessence in Beige Porcelaine, 010, £26.50, to light up the skin.

“We decided to go for a soft, smoky look to bring balance to the dress and belt” Eileen tells us. On the inner corners of the eyes, Ombre Absolue in Erika, G40. £15.50, was used with an aubergine tone called Colour Design Strass Amethyst, 605, £12.50, applied on the lower eyelids and into the crease of the eye so the gentle contrast highlighted the inner corners.

On the cheeks, two blush highlighters were mixed together to sculpt and add radiance (Highlighting Beige, 004 and Highlighting Rose, 001, £25).

To finish, lips were played down with a pink gloss with staying power - Colour Fever Gloss in Lancôme Rose, 334, £17. “With the darker eyes, I didn’t want to go heavy on the lips,” says Eileen.
