Night of gloss for Women of the Year

Perfect opportunity to debut new looks at awards

by hellomagazine.com

Considering they were sponsored by Aussie haircare, it was entirely appropriate that the stars who turned out for Glamour magazine's Women of the Year Awards chose the occasion to try out new looks. Lily Allen of course dyed her hair pink for the occasion – and spent an inordinate amount of time crouched down on the floor next to Piers Morgan's seat chatting away to the Prime Minister's wife, Sarah Brown, next to him.

Kelly Osborne had her jet black hair slicked perfectly back, exactly the right look to highlight the stunning black-and-gold dress she was wearing, which she told us was her mother's and which she accessorised with alabaster skin - surely the only girl in the room who hadn't been Fake Baked before the event. (Talking of Black and Gold, singer Sam Sparro also attended, in a spotted jacket and super-shiny trousers.)

Katherine Jenkins won the award for the most elaborate do of the night with a swirling confection dressed to the side – a little similar to Mel B's, which she wore straightened and also dressed to the side with a side parting. Accepting their award for band of the year, fellow Spice Girl Emma Bunton revealed a new bob while Geri Halliwell wore her hair down with a plait across the front, just behind the hairline.

My favourite make-up artist, Aimee Adams, attended with Tess Daly, who told me host Paul O'Grady had complimented her on having the best make-up of the night – and that while she often wears designer outfits, it doesn't stop her accessorizing with handbags from the high street.

American Boy singer Estelle looked beautiful with an almost 60s-inspired, bouffant-shaped haircut that gave her lots of height at the crown. And Fearne Cotton gave a nod to the 60s, too, with fabulous thick black line swooshes of eyeliner above subtle false lashes.

Everybody left with a goody bag containing Aussie's Colour range, including the classic 3 Minute Miracle in the Colour variant, too, to keep their celebrity colour looking super star-like for longer.
