Model Agyness Deyn has debuted a super slicked-back look that puts all the focus on her face

It looks like it's ta-ta to those tousled tresses as our most famous trendsetters make short styles the cream of the crop this autumn/winter. We've just had Victoria Beckham debuting her pixie cut with her first Marc Jacobs collection and now Agyness Deyn has followed Kelly Osbourne's path and slicked her hair back into a Cabaret-style, side-parted head-hugger that puts all the focus on her face.

To keep the style looking perfectly neat, you need to blowdry hair into shape before loading with wet-look styling gel and combing back either side of a precise side parting. Then finish with lots of hairspray to keep the hair in place and add mega shine.

But use a mousse on hair before blowdrying to give hair height and thickness and avoid separation – just because it's slicked back doesn't mean you want your hair looking thin and lifeless.

And with a look this severe, you really need to ramp up the make-up. Go for either dramatic eyes or lips and shape cheekbones to emphasise bone structure, rather than simply adding a pop of colour on the apples.

For the most fashionable look this season, go for a Gothic effect with lots of black and grey on the eyes and pair with nude lips. And experiment with false eyelashes – they look great set against such a stark hairline.
