And it’s taken Fearne Cotton to prove us wrong.
The Radio 1 DJ and television presenter has debuted a new look created using a tie-dye style colouring technique by Fearne’s hairdresser, Mark Hill, which allows Fearne to experiment with darker locks while retaining some of her blondeness.
The technique is new and one Mark created especially for Fearne.
He first added splices of brown in delicious-sounding chocolate, caramel, cinnamon, cappuccino and coffee woven through the whole head.
Over the top he added a second layer of chestnut and copper, to create multi-dimensional shimmering rich tones.
Finally, Mark took sections from around the front, side and crown, twisting them before sponging on a mild bleach wash to the ends to lift the overall colour and give hair a random, washed out effect. Long hair looks a little edgier and more textured.
Mark tells us Fearne was ready for a big change and loves the new look as it gives her hair, according to Mark, a bit of attitude.
Will it catch on? We think it’s tie-dye for!
