Each week the audience waited with baited breath, not just for the singers' performances, but also for the first glimpse of the ladies' outfits, hairstyles and beauty looks. And, although their unique ensembles didn't dissapoint, we couldn't help but notice some similarities in the beauty battle of the two judges.
As the show comes to a close we take a look back at Nicole and Tulisa's hairstyles to see how they achieved their X Factor beauty looks - who would you crown the winner?
A GREAT BLOW-DRY Nicole Scherzinger is renowned for long tousled locks which have become her go-to hairstyle for any big event. But joining the former Pussycat Dolls singer on the well-groomed judging panel this series, Tulisa Contostavlos sported big, bouncy waves of her own for a similar glamorous finish

Tulisa and Nicole both showed that they were straight-talking judges this year with hair to match, opting for shiny, sophisticated tresses to go with their LBDs

RETRO 1950s WAVES There's no better way to perfect a polished, on-stage look than with a time-old classic and, this year, both of the ladies showed a spot of timeless elegance with flowing, vintage style waves
THE BEST OF NICOLE Immaculately elegant, the 36-year-old star from America blew the audience away this season with her ultra-chic up-dos complemented an uncanny ability to apply flawless makeup. And on Halloween, Nicole surprised everybody with Cleopatra-inspired crimped locks finished off with a glittering black headpiece
BEST OF TULISA
The N-Dubz star made the most of her chocolatey brown locks once again after dying her hair back from the blonde look she sported at the start of the series for a more glamorous look at the live shows. Experimenting with side-swept twists, vintage Hollywood waves and a plaited chignon, Tulisa oozed confidence on the X Factor stage
