Summer weather can wreak havoc on your hair especially if it's dyed

Keep your hair hydrated

Your hair will stay healthy looking and glossy if you use nourishing products, such as the Chelsea Collection Keratin Restore Shampoo & Conditioner, £5.99, to help maintain and lock in your colour during the hot summer months.

Cover up your locks

Just like skin, covering up your hair is essential to avoid excessiv sun damage and a fade in colour: wear a hat or spritz an SPF product like Kerastase Soleil Micro-Voile Protecteur, £17.40, over the hair to help preserve colour and condition.

Multi-task on holiday

Use ‘beach time’ as ‘conditioning time’ by applying a super-moisturising treatment like The Chelsea Collection Argan treatment, £5.99, at the start of the day: this will help protect your hair against the elements while you tan!

Head to the salon to help repair your locks if you think they are damaged

Protect the ends of your hair, not just the roots

Wear long or mid-length hair in a chic summery braid, as lengths and ends are always the most susceptible to damage and colour fade. French plaits are a great style choice - they leave only the better conditioned root area exposed, minimising potential damage.

Head to the salon to repair your locks if damaged

Tackle lost sheen and colour fade with an in-salon vegetable gloss colour in between full colour appointments; this adds depth and tone, making the cuticle reflect light and increasing shine. Regular trims are essential to will keep any unsightly split ends at bay and help keep your colour looking fresher for longer.

Use a hair masque

Treat your hair to an intensive masque once a week for 15 minutes to help restore any lost moisture and shine.
