Wellbeing: Sweet cure for hangovers

Wellbeing: Sweet cure for hangovers

If your you could do with something to deal with the after-affects of partying, treat yourself to a plate of toast and honey, recommends the Royal Society of Chemistry. Honey gives you potassium, fructose and sodium and helps turn acetaldehyde – the toxic chemical into which alcohol is converted – into a less potent substance. Eat your treat with a glass of milk for optimum results. Milk helps slow down the absorption of alcohol, so there is less acetaldehyde for the body to cope with at any one time.
