Recreate Alesha Dixon's glam red carpet look

Share Alesha's hot make-up secrets

by With her single The Boy Done Nothing riding high in the top ten and still with a few weeks left as the reigning Strictly Come Dancing champion, Alesha Dixon has never been hotter – or looked better.

So we asked Max Factor make-up artist Caroline Barnes, who often tends to Alesha for red-carpet events, to share Alesha's beauty secrets with us…

"For this look, I used MAC Prep + Prime, £16, as a starter (0870 034 2676, It's great for red-carpet events because it makes sure make-up on top stays in place all night and gives skin a slight sheen.

"Then I applied Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, £28 (call Selfridges beauty counter on 020 8318 2486 for details and mail order), with MAC Cream Colour Base, £12 – a creamy textured blush in pearl with a slight frosty finish – along the cheekbones, which gives skin an 'elegant' finish.

"On the eyes I used Max Factor Colour Perfection Eyeshadow in Star Studded, a duo of silver and black, £6.45 – the silver went on first, particularly into the inner corners with the darker colour on the outer corners to create a feline effect (a helpful tip is to shape the darkest shade into a sideways V at the outer edges).

"Stila Kohl black eyeliner, £12 (from Selfridges or is my favourite for sexy, standout eyes because it has the deepest pigment I've worked with. I smudged it along the lashes for depth and lined the inner rims for sexiness. I finished with Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara, £10.99, which Alesha loves.

"Because there was so much focus on the eyes, I went for a more natural look on the lips to create balance (using) MAC Lip Pencil in Spice, £9, to create a slightly darker lip line filled in with Chanel Aqua Lumiere Gloss in Bonbon, £16, a gorgeous nudey pink in a texture that feels like a balm but looks naturally sexy."
