Angelina's voluptuous lips are undeniably sexy, but researchers now say they're a continuing sign of youthfulness, too
They’re not just sexy; voluptuous lips are also the key to a more youthful look, according to scientists from Unilever, who have concluded that women with full, firm lips are seen as younger than they really are.
While wrinkles and age spots are influenced by both genetic and environmental factors, receding and greying hair and the size of lips is determined solely by genes.
Unfortunately, lips reach their maximum volume in young adulthood for both sexes and can begin to deflate between the ages of 30 and 40, artificially ageing a person.
So how do you make sure yours look as full as possible?
Wearing lipgloss attracts light to the lips, making them look more voluptuous than they really are – even if you just dot it in the centre of lips.
Loud, bright colours obviously attract the eye – but that also means emphasising less-than thin lips, too.
So keep colours neutral: shades that are similar to the tone of your lips enhance what you’ve got naturally and colours that almost match your complexion can make lips look bigger because the eye can’t differentiate so clearly between where the lip line ends and skin begins.
Draw a line just outside your natural lipline, too, with a lip pencil, to make lips look a little bigger.
You’ll need to use lipstick inside, though, as shiny textures will soon glide away leaving you with a noticeable ring around your mouth.
Finally, if you do have thin lips, make a feature of your eyes instead, which will draw the eye upwards and away from your mouth. Big eyes remind us of babies so are an ever youthful feature.
