Beauty emergencies always seem to strike at the worst possible moments – and usually when you don't have the resources to sort them out.
Whether it’s make-up stained clothes or smudged mascara, there is usually something you can do to solve the problem.
Here are five top tips to help you fix common beauty mishaps when running to Boots isn’t an option.
1. Make-up stained clothes
Your favourite white shirt is stained with make-up minutes before leaving home.
Don't panic - talc powder can be your best ally in these types of situations. Apply it on the dirty zone, give it five minutes to act, and then brush it off with a clothes brush.
2. Smudged mascara
You aren't the first and definitely won't be the last woman to experience this. And as usual, when it happens, you’ve got no time to remove the make-up and start again.
The best solution is to wet a cotton bud with make-up remover and apply it softly on the stained zone. This way, you’ll get rid of the most problematic blot, and after applying eye shadow, no one will ever notice the original smudge.
3. Lipstick on teeth
Lipstick is easy enough to wipe off the teeth, but it's knowing that it’s there that causes the problem. Rather than constantly worrying about this make-up blunder, here is quick tip that will ensure your pearly whites stay just that – white.
After applying your lipstick, place your index finger into your mouth and wrap your lips around it before pulling it out.
Any of the extra lipstick that would normally migrate onto the teeth will come off on your finger instead.
4. Frizzy hair
If, despite your fabulous blowdry, your hair starts to frizz during the day thanks to inconveniently high humidity levels, use some hand lotion as a makeshift smoothing cream.
Make sure you only use a dab so your hair doesn’t look greasy.
5. Emerging spots
If you can feel a spot making an attempt to emerge with a long – and perhaps important – day ahead, find some lemon and ice.
Rubbing a block of ice gently over the spot will minimize swelling.
Then dab some lemon juice onto the affected area – this will dry the spot out.
