Pioneered by reality TV star Kim Kardashian, contouring is a beauty craze that has swept the world, thanks to its ability to sculpt the face and make you look instantly slimmer.
But it's tricky to contour correctly. So HELLO! Online has provided a step-by-step guide, with the help of make-up brand Studio 10 (studio10beauty.com).
Before: this is how the make-up should look once it is applied but not yet blended
Apply primer, followed by foundation or tinted moisturiser, depending on how light or heavy you like the look.
Then pick your contouring shade. This is important – contour shades should have no red or orange in them, but instead have blue undertones to create a natural shadow. They should also be shimmer-free.
Sweep contouring powder with a large brush just underneath the cheekbones, moving from the hollows of the ears to the middle of the cheeks. Then blend in circles to give a natural shadow and avoid the stripe effect.
After: this is how the make-up should look after blending
Apply a small amount of powder to the jawline to create a stronger jaw.
The highest point of the shadow should meet your highlighter, which should be applied and blended on the cheekbones for extra definition.
The final step is blusher, but make sure not to overdo it – heavy blusher can negate the effects of the contouring. To apply the blusher, smile with your lips closed to bring out the apples of your cheeks and dab with the powder.
