Sophie Turner has revealed she and Maisie Williams opted for matching tattoos

"We've always kind of said we wanted matching tattoos," she told E!. The blonde beauty revealed that she and Maisie have each had the date "07.08.09" inked onto their arms, as this was the date that they both found out they had been cast as the Stark sisters in the fantasy drama.

While both of their characters hae survived six seasons of the show so far, Game of Thrones is notorious for killing off main characters in shock plot twists – something which Sophie quipped had prompted her to get the tattoo done.

The pair chose to have the date they were cast in the show inked on their arms

"We don't know if we're going to make it, so Maisie and I were like, 'let's get these ones before anyone kills us'," she joked.

It appears that the stars' parents were supportive of their decision, although Sophie's mother did caution her with a few words of wisdom before she headed to the tattoo parlour. "I got it in peach because my mum was like, 'make sure it doesn't show up'," she explained.

There's no doubt that Sophie and Maisie have formed a strong bond since they first appeared on our screens in 2011. The pair regularly keep fans updated with their days out on social media, and have even nicknamed themselves 'Mophie'.

It was no doubt an exciting evening on Sunday night for the Game of Thrones cast, who took home three awards. This takes the show's total number of Emmys to 38 – one more than Frasier – making it the most ever for a primetime programme.
