In December, St James' Palace made one of the most eagerly anticipated announcements in years with the news that the Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant.
And since then, all eyes have been on Kate as she embarks on an incredible nine-month journey into motherhood.
With that in mind, Fiona Walkinshaw, Maternity Services Manager at The Portland Hospital For Women and Children, shares a week-by-week guide to pregnancy with HELLO! Online.
What’s happening to your baby? Week 13
The placenta is now well formed and all organs are fully functioning. Your baby’s head now moves up and down and from side to side. Facial features are starting to develop and some hair may be growing too. Your baby may now start sucking its thumb. Your baby is about 7-10cm long.
What’s happening to you? Week 13
Congratulations! You are now in the second trimester of your pregnancy!
Many women feel at their best in this period – the nausea and morning sickness of early pregnancy is now passing and your energy levels are hopefully beginning to increase again.
Your breasts are growing and you may have already moved up a few bra sizes. Remember to look after them and always wear a correctly fitting, comfortable bra.
A lot of women choose to start telling family and friends about their exciting news now.
