Jessica Alba reveals her healthy living mission: 'There's no slapping my name on it and getting money'
12 MARCH 2014Jessica Alba is passionate about healthy living - especially when it comes to her children. The down-to-earth actress founded her own eco-friendly business The Honest Company in January 2012, and recently spoke to Healthy Hollywood about her decision to create family-friendly products.
"There is no slapping my name on it and getting money," the star declared as she shared her story with entrepreneurial-minded women at the NBC Universal Power of the Purse breakfast.

Despite her A-list status, Jessica revealed that her status didn't give her instant access into the beauty industry. She was offered numerous deals to promote fragrances but had her heart set on creating her own — no matter how many times she was turned down.
"I have always been driven. I have always questioned authority. I don't take no for an answer when I feel passionate about something being right or doing something the right way," she said.
"This is not from an arrogant or ego-driven place, but from healthy products for families, that's just right. And making them affordable, that's just right, and fundamentally they should be available."
Jessica said that becoming a mother inspired her to create a non-toxic line for parents and kids. The actress, who shares daughters Honor, five, and Haven, two, with husband Cash Warren, noticed during her first pregnancy that there was a lack of affordable, safe baby products.
"As a parent you want to do the best you can to prevent your child from suffering from anything that's not necessary. And that's obviously what you feed them, what you clean your home with, what you clean your laundry and dishes with, what you put on your skin and your babies' skin and what they injest at every level," she explained.
"I think we mistakenly trust where we shop and we think that if it's on a shelf and marketed in a pretty way it's safe, and it's just not. We realise more and more that big corporations are just about their bottom line."
