The 28-year-old star received a flurry of congratulatory tweets from her 123,000 followers, replying to one user that she was "very excited" about the little arrival. "Thank you for all your lovely messages," Paula later added. The couple's joyous news comes just weeks after Paula and Tom tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in May. The lovebirds exchanged vows at Leeds Cathedral, where Paula was walked down the aisle by her mother Anne Werritt. Paula and Tom met at Huddersfield Technical College, and began dating when the actress was 17.

The small-screen star has previously had to feign pregnancy when her Corrie character Kylie discovered that she was expecting. In the "fabulous" twist, viewers saw Kylie unsure of who the father of her unborn child was — her husband David, played by Jack P Shepherd, or his half-brother Nick, played by Ben Price.

Paula also spoke about the fake baby bump she had to wear. "It's an absolute nightmare, I absolutely hate the bump," she told PA. "I keep having to be remeasured for different ones because it's getting bigger and bigger. I think I've just been measured for my eight month one. "I don't think I could get any bigger, but they're going, 'Oh, but you're so lovely and petite and this is what it would be like'. It itches me, I go home with a rash on my tummy."
