Greg Rutherford introduces son Milo exclusively to HELLO!

by hellomagazine.com London 2012 champion Greg Rutherford and his girlfriend Susie Verrill have introduced their first child in an exclusive interview and photoshoot with HELLO ! Magazine. Son Milo was born on October 20, weighing 8lbs. And Olympic long jump medallist Greg says his birth has outshone all his sporting achievements.

"The Olympic gold will always be the greatest thing that has ever happened to me in my athletics career, but nothing could come close to how happy I felt when I first saw Milo's lovely little face," he said. "I was crying my eyes out." And he says becoming a father has spurred him to do better on the field.

Milo's full name is Milo Andrew William James Nugget Rutherford

"Milo's already bringing me luck. He's in my thoughts when I'm going to jump and that brings a great deal more emotion," he told HELLO! "It's been wonderful to end the year on a high."

In the interview, Greg also explains the reason behind their son's long name: Milo Andrew William James Nugget Rutherford.

"William and James after our granddads," Greg explained. "And Nugget is the name we gave him when Susie was first pregnant. We've even put it on the birth certificate."

Greg also tells HELLO! that he hopes to become the second man in Olympic history to be a summer and winter champion by taking up the bob skeleton sport.

"I've been speaking to people like [British skeleton racer] Lizzy Yarnold who have told me I have the attributes to do well in the sport," he says. "But who knows? You need to know if you could do it mentally and hurtle down an ice track at 85 miles an hour. I might brick it for all I know. But I’m pretty sure I’ll love it."
