The 45-year-old star previously admitted she felt "too old" to have a baby

Emily, who is best known for playing Marilyn Chambers in Home and Away, announced her miracle pregnancy in February. She expressed her joy on Twitter, after admitting that she had gone through a few rounds of IVF before becoming pregnant.

"Never say never! We are so happy to finally be able to share our news. Thanks for all your incredibly kind words," she tweeted.

The new mum was previously married to Lorenzo Smith, a descendent of English stationery tycoon W.H. Smith, but the pair split after two years in 2005. In the past Emily has said that it was her need for children and two failed rounds of IVF that contributed to the end of her marriage.

When she discovered she was pregnant, Emily said: "I very much thought it couldn't happen and I was too old. I thought it would be impossible but it isn't."

She added to Australia's Daily Telegraph: "I'd given up really. I thought I had tried every avenue that was available to us. My advice is to not give up if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed by the whole process."

The recent arrival of her baby boy calls for a double celebration. Sydney-born Emily is set to turn 46 next week and will no doubt be toasting to her newborn son.
