This is the Elementary actress' first child. She prefers to keep her personal life private, but in the past has been linked to hedge-fund billionaire Noam Gottesman, as well as Zach Helm and Will McCormack.Back in 2010, Lucy opened up to USA Today about motherhood, saying: "I don't have a settling-down time," adding that she thought her biological clock was broken. "Someone threw out the battery," she joked."I never feel like it’s too early or too late for anything," she explained. "I don't ever think for me this traditional way is the way to go for me because I haven't had a traditional life."

Lucy isn't the first celebrity to use a gestational carrier to expand her family. After a "rollercoaster ride with fertility", Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban opted for the same route for their second child, Faith."Having given birth and then being there to see my child born in that way, I felt so much love for our surrogate, gestational carrier," Nicole later said. The Oscar-winner went on to explain why she uses the term "gestational carrier" as opposed to "surrogate" – something she was criticised for in the days following Faith's birth. "We were trying to be accurate," she said. "The term 'gestational carrier' is used if it's your biological child and if it isn't, then you use 'surrogate'. I mean, who knows what it is. But she's the most wonderful woman to do this for us."
