The 55-year-old and his wife Amal Clooney are expecting twins later this year, and George has finally broken his silence. "We are really happy and really excited. It's going to be an adventure," he explained during his interview with Laurent Weil on his French program, Rencontres de Cinema. "We've sort of embraced it all… with arms wide open."

It is thought that the couple's babies are due in June. Their pregnancy was first revealed by friend Julie Chen, who announced the news on The Talk. "Beyoncé is not the only superstar expecting twins," she confirmed. "Congratulations are in order for George and Amal Clooney." Speaking about how he feels about becoming a parent later in life, the Hollywood star added: "I'm feeling a little better about being 56 by the time [they come]." Meanwhile, George's mother, Nina Clooney, recently revealed the sex of the twins the pair are expecting - a baby boy and a baby girl. "It will be one of each! Yes, a boy and a girl. That's what I've been told," she confirmed to RadarOnline. "How marvellous! My husband and I are extremely excited."

Last week, the actor's close friend and Ocean's Eleven co-star Matt Damon recalled the moment George shared the happy news. "I was working with him last fall and he pulled me aside on set and I mean, I almost started crying. I was so happy for him. And I was like, 'how far along is she?' And he goes, 'eight weeks.'" The father-of-four was quick to quip, "Are you out of your mind?! Don't tell anybody else! Don't tell anybody else! Don't you know the 12-week rule?' Like of course he doesn't. I was like, 'just shut up, man.' And then four weeks later, I'm like, 'we're good right?'" to which George said, "We're good.'"
