The new addition to the family joins two-year-old brother Charlie and David's 12-year-old daughter Coco from his marriage to Friends actress Courteney Cox. In October last year, the 45-year-old star announced the pregnancy by uploading a sweet video of Charlie holding a picture of Christina's scan. He captioned the clip: "So incredibly blessed and honoured that my wife @christinaarquette is pregnant with a baby boy! Thank you Christina and humbled gratitude to G-D for this tremendous gift! Charlie and Coco are so excited and I am over the moon!!! (sic)"

The newborn's name is a sweet tribute to David's sister Alexis, who died last September at the age of 47. Brother Richmond Arquette was the one who broke the news of her passing, writing on Facebook: "Our brother Robert, who became our brother Alexis, who became our sister Alexis, passed this morning September 11 at 12:32 a.m. He was surrounded by all of his brothers and sisters, and one of his nieces and several other loved ones...As per his wishes, we cheered at the moment that he transitioned to another dimension." A short while later, David took to Twitter to pay tribute to Alexis. "Thank you all for your love and kind words about Alexis," he wrote alongside a photo of the pair together. "My hero for eternity."
