Strictly Come Dancing star Erin Boag has introduced the baby boy who she quit the show for.

Ewan Robert Geoffrey O'Dowd is the first child for Erin and her husband Peter O'Dowd – and in an exclusive interview with HELLO! Magazine, the proud new mother revealed how she asked her professional dance partner Anton Du Beke to be the baby's godfather.

In the interview, Erin also reveals how Ewan was born via Caesarean section on 24 April, her husband Peter O’Dowd's 50th birthday. "As I was being taken to the delivery room, I said I wanted Peter to hold him first," she told HELLO!. "When Ewan was born, they wrapped him up, handed him to Peter and I said, ‘Happy Birthday.’ It was a moment I’ll treasure forever.

"Erin had planned to have a natural delivery with the help of hypno-birthing, but a routine 39-week scan revealed she had a mild case of polyhydramnios – excessive amniotic fluid – so she was booked in for a last-minute Caesarean three days before her due date. In the interview, Erin also revealed the moment she told her Strictly bosses that she wouldn't be back, telling HELLO! it was because she wanted to start a family.

"We went to see producers in early June and I said, 'Thank you very much, but no thank you,'" she said. "It was a bit of a shock to them. It was sad, but I was ready. I'd done ten series – it was a great time in my life and I have very happy memories. I loved every series I did, every partner I had. I went out on a high."
