Cheryl and Liam Payne could be facing a £200 fine for failing to register the birth of their son in time, it has been reported. The couple welcomed their baby boy on 22 March, and while they made his birth Instagram-official, it seems they are yet to sign all the legal paperwork associated with his arrival. According to the Mail on Sunday, Cheryl and Liam failed to meet the 42-day deadline set for all new parents, and, since they are now five days overdue, could face the maximum fine of £200.

One likely cause for the delay is the time Liam, 23, and Cheryl, 33, took choosing the perfect name for their son. The couple spent more than a week with their baby boy before deciding to call him Bear, with a source telling the Sun: "Cheryl and Liam wanted to get to know their baby before deciding on a name… They didn't have the name Bear before the birth. But they'd been thinking of a name since meeting him and they just felt it suited him. They love their little baby Bear Payne and are truly over the moon and love being parents for their first time together."

It was dad Liam who finally confirmed the little boy's moniker as he replied to a congratulatory tweet sent by TV explorer Bear Grylls. Since becoming a dad, the One Direction star has been busy working in the US, and hitting the promotional trail in the UK ahead of the release of his solo music. But he's also shown himself to be a hands-on father, taking to social media shortly after his son's birth to joke about the realities of dealing with newborn nappies.
