Usually the X Factor finalists leave once they are voted off.
This week, however, one of their number was on the verge of exiting the show of his own free will after news broke that Danyl Johnson threatened to walk out.
The 27-year-old reportedly stormed out of rehearsals on Wednesday after an argument with singing expert Yvie Burnett, the Mirror reports.
He is said to be unhappy with his choice of song – George Michael's Praying for Time - for Saturday's Wham-themed show, selected for him by mentor Simon Cowell.
He threatened to leave the show if the music mogul did not change it.
"He literally burst out of the door and ran off down Battersea High Street," one insider told the paper.
"A few production staff chased after him to try to calm him down and make him come back but he was having none of it."
"He seems very angry and upset and is demanding a different song."
After around five hours, teacher Danyl is said to have headed to the Sony BMG offices, where Simon works, for crisis talks.
It is thought the TV star did agree to change the song, but on the condition that Danyl apologises to the production crew for his outburst.
