Rocker Ozzy Osbourne has used his Facebook page to dismiss rumours he is splitting from wife Sharon Osbourne. In the post, he also apologised for what he called his "insane" behaviour.
"For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place," the Black Sabbath frontman wrote. "However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober."
"Just to set the record straight, Sharon and I are not divorcing. I'm just trying to be a better person.
"I would like to apologize to Sharon, my family, my friends and my bandmates for my insane behavior during this period, and my fans."
Ozzy's statement comes after it was revealed the rock icon and his wife, who have been married for 31 years, were living apart. The couple were also spotted without their wedding rings on.
Sharon is said to be living in a luxury hotel situated two miles from the rented mansion that her husband is staying in. Friends of the celebrity couple have said the arrangement is "highly unusual".
"They are living at different addresses and not spending any time together," a source said. "They row a lot. They aren't acting like husband and wife. It is unusual to not even have dinner together when both of them are five minutes apart."
Ozzy's wife is currently in Mexico enjoying a well-deserved break at the lavish Esperanza Resort. Their children Kelly and Jack, Osbourne pictured above, remain in Los Angeles.
During a recent live Twitter session with fans, Sharon revealed she was going through a difficult time.
"I've had a really tough year and I ask myself the same question, how can I get up every day and smile," she wrote.
The past 12 months have been a testing time for the Osbourne family.
Jack was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis – Just three weeks after welcoming his daughter Pearl into the world with wife Lisa. "The timing was so bad", Jack confided to HELLO!. "I'd just had a baby".
His sister Kelly also suffered a recent health scare. The star was rushed to hospital after having a seizure on the set of her show, Fashion Police.
Sharon informed fans that her daughter was recovering well. "She is fine and naughty," she said on her morning TV show The Talk.
It's a little princess!
