They have more than 10 million Twitter followers, and cause scenes of such pandemonium wherever they go, they have been likened to the Beatles — you'd have to be living on another planet to have not heard the name One Direction.
Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik have taken the pop world utterly by storm since they burst onto the scene on The X Factor in 2010. Along the way they have amassed an army of dedicated fans, both young and old. Now it's their turn to step into the spotlight.
Diehard 'One Directioners' are set to be the subject of a new channel 4 documentary, I Heart One Direction, which will look at the ways they use social media websites to get close to the boy band.
The hour-long feature, directed by Daisy Asquith, will be screened this summer as part of the Cutting Edge series.
"It will get under the skin of this new 21st century style of young fans to find out what it means to be a true 'Directioner'," Channel 4 said.
Tayte Simpson, executive producer at production company Mentorn Media, added, "It will offer a fascinating insight into a new breed of idol worship. Social media has created huge communities which connect millions of fans in a way that was never possible before."
It's a little princess!
