Born in Gravesend, Kent, Gemma attended a local grammar school before winning a place at RADA. While there, she worked behind a beauty counter to help pay the rent, as well as found time to make her screen debut in BBC TV drama Capturing Mary and her stage debut in Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost at the Globe Theatre. After graduating in 2007, the brunette beauty won recognition with her portrayal of head girl Kelly in St Trinian's alongside Russell Brand and Rupert Everett. She followed this up acting with The Office's Mackenzie Crook and Imelda Staunton in 2008 film comedy Three And Out and in Guy Ritchie's crime flick RocknRolla. Period roles in the TV adaptation of Tess Of The D'Urbervilles and as Elizabeth Bennet in miniseries Lost In Austen came next, but she soon found herself back in a contemporary setting after winning a part opposite Daniel Craig in Bond flick Quantum Of Solace. In 2010 the talented performer is set to appear in Hollywood blockbuster Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Sir Ben Kingsley.
