Born: June 4, 1927
Famous for: Paying more attention to his butterfly collection than his frustrated wife
Given the fact that he has enjoyed one of British TV's most stellar careers, it's something of an irony that Geoffrey Palmer didn't intend to become an actor. It was his girlfriend who originally convinced him to join an amateur dramatics society. But after making an impression on the stage, the young performer moved into TV notching up roles in several programmes including Best Of Enemies and Incident At Midnight. Since then he has appeared in The Legend Of Reginald Perrin, He Knew He Was Right and, of course, Butterflies.
