Cambridge graduate Hugh Bonneville originally had his sights set on being a lawyer, but decided to take up acting instead. A firm fixture on both small and big screens since the early Nineties, he has appeared in TV series The Vicar Of Dibley and Peak Practice. He also played laconic detective Iain Barclay in the powerful drama Five Days. Since making his film debut in Kenneth Branagh's Mary Shelley's Frankenstein in 1994 he"s carved out a formidable film career across a range of genres, from Tomorrow Never Dies to Notting Hill. In 1991 he earned a BAFTA nod for his portrayal Iris Murdoch"s husband in Iris, a bio-pic about the novelist. The London-born actor lives in West Sussex with his artist wife Lulu and their son Felix.
