Kate Hudson's early life

Kate Hudson, the daughter of the Oscar-winning actress Goldie Hawn and her now ex-husband, comedian-musician Bill Hudson, was born on April 19, 1979, in Los Angeles and raised from the age of three by Goldie and the veteran entertainer's longtime partner, Hollywood star Kurt Russell

Kate is the only daughter of four children in the household, growing up with brother Oliver, two years her senior, Boston, Kurt's son from a previous relationship, and Wyatt, Goldie's son with Kurt. A small role in a 1996 episode of the US TV family drama Party Of Five was followed by a Tommy Jeans ad campaign in 1997, the same year she graduated from Crossroads, a Santa Monica performing arts school. Despite the fact that her Tinseltown parents discouraged her from embarking on a showbiz career, she postponed enrolling in a New York university in order to pursue acting.

Kate Hudson's acting career

Success came quickly for Kate, who, after scoring a part in the ensemble cast of 200 Cigarettes, hit her stride with four movie releases in 1999. Of the quartet of films, it was Almost Famous which propelled the 21-year-old onto the A-list, garnering her a Golden Globe for best supporting actress, as well as an Academy Award nomination.

Throughout the 2000s, she starred in a series of hit romantic comedies, including How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, You, Me And Dupree and Bride Wars.

Her more recent film credits include Rock the Kasbah, Deepwater Horizon, Mother's Day and Glass Onion.

Away from acting, Kate is a successful business woman having launched her own line of workout clothes and activewear, Fabletics.
