"I live each day as it comes. I don't have a 10-year plan", said HELLO! online blogger Laura Whitmore, when talking about her plans for the future.
Living in the moment has paid off for the gorgeous blonde who, on a whim, sent a tape to MTV for their 2008 Pick Me MTV
competition, beating 3000 applicants to become the face of MTV News Europe.
"You have to take jobs as they come", she said, explaining her fearlessness.
Laura was born in the small Irish town of Bray on May 4 1985. Her parents separated when she was three, but the quirky presenter didn't feel the effects. "I never thought of it at the time," she says. "I always had everything I needed."
While studying journalism in Dublin City University, she had her first stint in front of the camera, starring in a student TV advert which featured a naked man, with Laura holding his briefs. "Obviously, a huge budget went into that," she joked.
Her life changed drastically after she won Pick Me MTV
and dropped everything to move to London. "One friend told me I was brave for moving," she reminisced. "I never thought it was a big deal. It was my dream".
Since then, the Irish beauty's career has sky-rocketed and she has interviewed huge showbiz names, from Robert Downey Jr to Miley Cyrus.
"I didn't know whether people were laughing with me or at me," she joked about her first interviews, "Maybe it's the Irish mannerisms. You get away with murder when you're Irish. It's the banter".
The Irish craic
evidently charmed the public - with more than 250,000 followers on Twitter, 'The Whitmore' has established herself as one of Britain's best loved TV presenters.
In November 2011, Laura replaced Caroline Flack to co-host I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here Now!
. Forming a lively trio with Joe Walsh and Rob Beckett, she interviews celebrity guests and delivers all the behind the scenes gossip.
In 2013, the rising star also hosted the 2013 Brit Awards backstage show.
Describing her career as a "crazy rollercoaster", the MTV star is always keen to take on new projects, saying she's determined to "try everything, even if I am rubbish at it!". It's quite the opposite – she seems to succeed at whatever she sets her mind to.
Pursuing a modelling career at school, aged 17 Laura was a finalist in the Ford Irish supermodel competition. She is now signed to Select Models alongside familiar faces such as Mischa Barton and Abbey Clancy.
The spotlight turned to her love life after she was romantically linked to Niall Horan from One Direction.
Responding to the rumour Laura tweeted: "Niall is my lil brother from another mother, RELAX one direction fans. You honestly have NOTHING to worry about x."
Since then, she has remained tight-lipped about her love life, particularly her on and off relationship with rocker Danny O'Reilly.
She previously described Danny as "my best friend, he gets me, I'm a crazy little girl - He gets my lifestyle and gets the things I do".
