Blending in with the outstanding array of lime greens, fuchsia pinks and vivid reds, Sophie Wessex put a slight spin on her vibrant pink dress with a salmon-hued wrap
Copenhagen's Vor Frue Kirke cathedral erupted in bright colours today, as a roll-call of top European royals watched Crown Prince Frederik and his bride Mary Donaldson make their vows.
The tropical flowers that decorated the cathedral were matched by the outfits of those present, with most of the guests opting for vibrant, incandescent hues. The groom's mother, Queen Margrethe, wore a full-length fuchsia jacket over a floral gown while Britain's Sophie Wessex donned a salmon wrap over a hot pink dress.
Belgium's Crown Princess Mathilde, in a spring-inspired floral gown, was escorted up the red carpet by her husband Prince Philippe, who, like many of the men present, was dressed in a traditional military uniform. And a newly-svelte Martha Louise of Norway also sent the flashbulbs blazing in a green-blue dress with gold detail.
Colour combining was a family affair for the Swedish royals, with Crown Princess Victoria in green and her sister Madeleine in pink, while their mother, Queen Silvia, donned a luminous combination of the two shades.
Spain's Crown Prince Felipe was meanwhile accompanied by his fiancée, Letizia Ortiz, whom he will marry in Madrid's Almudena Cathedral next week. The Spanish princess-to-be made perhaps the most striking impression on the red carpet, with a fitted, scarlet gown and tiny bolero jacket in the same vivid hue.
Her future mother-in-law, Queen Sofia, was one of the few guests who didn't opt for vibrant colours, taking to the red carpet in a deep aubergine gown and wrap. Mette-Marit of Norway was likewise understated, in a tailored sky-blue jacket and fitted floor-length skirt, while Monaco's Princess Caroline chose simple black.
