The Duchess of York opens her heart about 'diabolical' love life

Sarah, Duchess of York , has lifted the lid on the romance in her life, or rather the lack of it. The flame-haired royal, who has been linked to Norwegian Findus boss Geir Frantzen in the past year, says she has had no success on the relationship front.

"My love life's diabolical!" she tells The Sunday Telegraph. "Either men find me too strong-willed, or they think I'm too close to Prince Andrew. Anyway, I don't want to sound desperate but I'd like someone to come and join me on planet Sarah."

The 49-year-old royal, who attended Roberto Cavalli's Milan Fashion Week party at the weekend with daughters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, admits that with maturity has come a certain level of wisdom, too. "I wish I had done it all differently. I wish I could do it all over again," she revealed. "I'd still marry Andrew, of course. He is a wonderful man. I'd just deal with it better. I'd ride the storms."

She also says how she found unfavourable comparisons with Princess Diana upsetting after she married into the royal family in 1986. While Prince Charles' late wife was seen as the 'people's princess', Sarah was perceived as being robust and a tad reckless. "It's pretty hard to change people's perceptions," she admits ruefully.
