Just as great interest surrounded royal sweetheart Kate Middleton's first public comments, royal watchers were also delighted to hear Charlotte Casiraghi speaking on TV for the first time.
Princess Caroline's 23–year-old daughter appeared on a French sports programme, with her uncle Albert, pleasing commentators with her mature demeanour and an attractively low speaking voice that could belong to a much older woman.
In the interview, the pair discuss their support for the Global Champions equestrian event, one stage of which took place in their native Monaco.
Amateur horsewoman Charlotte is seen speaking, a little hesitantly at first, then with growing enthusiasm, of her passion for the sport.
"I started to ride when I was very young, and it's a sport I have practised for a very long time," she tells the channel. "It was a great pleasure for me to participate in the Monaco showjumping event".
The dynamic young woman also talks about the difficulty of competing at a time when she'd just injured her hand, praising her steed for seeing her through.
