A new recruit? Camilla chooses perfect 'uniform' to meet brave soldiers

It was a sartorial selection designed to keep the bitter winter weather at bay.

But the Duchess of Cornwall found her fur hat and blue coat perfectly matched the uniforms worn by the British soldiers she met this week.

Camilla's clothing was completely in sync with the attire worn by the Bearskin Guards, whom Prince Charles and his wife were presenting campaign medals to at Lille Barracks.

The battalion has recently returned from a six-month tour of Afghanistan – something the British heir told the soldiers he could relate to, since his own son Harry spent eight weeks there.

"If I may say so it's been for me and my wife a matter of enormous pride to be able to join you here today," he added.

"It’s the very least we can do to show how much your efforts are appreciated, not just by ourselves, but by the entire country."

He also spoke of the losses the battalion had suffered, as he paid tribute to those who have lost their lives.

"We will never forget what they have done and the sacrifice," the 61-year-old royal told those gathered, including around 800 family members who had travelled from Wales to watch the presentation.
