Celebrity chefs Heston Blumenthal and Gary Rhodes also attended the reception for the 'Chefs Adopt a School' programme. The scheme aims to introduce children to 'real foods' and teach them where ingredients come from.
The Prince, who is patron of the Academy of Culinary Arts, and Camilla also sniffed pots of raspberry jam and tasted lemons as part of a lesson on how the palate works.
A well-known supporter of quality foods, Charles praised the scheme.
It was absolutely crucial to "find a way to reconnect young people" with what they eat, he said.
