Colin Firth has won an Oscar, Golden Globe and Bafta for his portrayal of King George VI in The King's Speech.
But these accolades may never have come about had it not been for the woman who sparked the Abdication Crisis which resulted in the coronation of King George.
An extensive collection of lingerie, accessories and jewellery owned by the late Duchess of Windsor is due to be put up for auction.
Wallis Simpson - whose affair with the Prince of Wales is set to be immortalised in film by Madonna - was revered for her assortment of elegant couture gowns and luxury bags.
She wrote: "My husband gave up everything for me… I'm not a beautiful woman. I'm nothing to look at, so the only thing I can do is dress better than anyone else."
"If everyone looks at me when I enter a room, my husband can feel proud of me. That's my chief responsibility."
The sale by Kerry Taylor Auctions will take place on March 17.
