Duchess of Cornwall sees off a scaly customer in Tanzania

Parasols aren't just good at protecting against the harmful rays of the sun.

At first glance it looked like the Duchess of Cornwall was using hers to fend off a giant alligator during an official trip to Tanzania.

But the scaly customer posed no real threat – he was made of scrap metal.

Camilla and her husband Prince Charles were visiting The Wonder Workshop – an art collective consisting of a group of local adult polio victims who weld sculptures and sell them.

The visit was just one of the high points of the couple's African adventure, which they hope will highlight environmental and social issues.

They are spending four days in Tanzania after touring South Africa for five days.

There the plant-loving pair were thrilled to drop into the Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens.

They also got to check out some wildlife at the WWF Black Rhino Expansion Project, Phinda Game Reserve.
