The Duchess of Cambridge will join Prince William and Harry as an Olympic ambassador, Palace officials have revealed.
The trio will visit teams and athletes across the country in the run up to the 2012 games.
It's the first national role for Kate, who is yet to decide which sporting projects to back.
Prince William said: "Catherine, Harry and I are honoured to be ambassadors for Team GB and Paralympics GB.
"We are hugely looking forward to this incredible sporting competition, but are also looking beyond next summer's Games to the springboard it will provide for future success.'
The new role is highly appropriate for Kate, who was keen on sports at school. The Duchess loved tennis, hockey, swimming, netball and rounders and was a member of several rowing teams.
William is already patron of the Football Association and has enjoyed rugby, hockey, football, basketball and cross-country running over the years.
Both the Princes are keen polo players.
