Prince Carl Philip of Sweden is recovering after being attacked in Cannes, France.
A spokesman for the Palace confirmed the incident, saying: "Prince Carl Philip was the victim of an unprovoked attack by a stranger while with a companion on the night of August 11th outside a club in Cannes, France.
"The prince feels fine under the circumstances and has not received any injuries from the incident."
The second child of King Carl Gustaf was partying at Baoli club with girlfriend Sofia Hellqvist, pictured above, when he was set upon by three men.
The unprovoked attack was caught on video by a witness' cell phone, and shows the royal being struck across the face.
Former glamour model Sofia intervened in the chaos, trying to come to Carl Philip's aid. Both escaped without being harmed.
Royal officials say the third-in-line's family are aware of the incident and have confirmed that Carl Philip's schedule will continue as normal.
The incident comes after the 33-year-old travelled to London with brother-in-law Daniel to cheer on Swedish athletes at the Olympics.
