Monaco royal weddings: Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III

by hellomagazine.com With Monaco's wedding of Princess Caroline's son Andrea Casiraghi to Tatiana Santo Domingo set for 31 August, the nuptials are sure to be the royal wedding of the year.

Although Andrea does not hold a royal title, it has been rumoured that the ceremony might take place inside the Palace, while other sources report that the couple may marry in an intimate wedding and celebrate with friends and family days later in Monaco.

HELLO! Online takes a look back at one of Monaco's most iconic weddings, that of American actress Grace Kelly to her handsome Prince Rainier III of Monaco, who were the groom-to-be's grandparents.

The Hollywood beauty met Rainier during the Cannes Film Festival and eight months later, the couple were engaged. The lovebirds tied the knot on 19 April, 1956, in Monte Carlo, in a church ceremony and a civil ceremony the day before, as was customary in Monaco.

The wedding was attended by around 600 guests and watched by an estimated 30 million on television and was dubbed "the wedding of the century".
