When it came to the incredibly important job of caring for their firstborn, Prince William and Kate Middleton decided to turn to a familiar face. The royal couple have asked William's former nanny, Jessie Webb, to help them look after their ten-week-old son Prince George.Jessie has been assisting William and Kate at their home in Anglesey, and this week was spotted with the new mum and her son for the first time. As the Duchess made a pit stop at a McDonalds car park to feed her little boy, enroute to Kensington Palace, Jessie was also seen emerging from the car to lend a helping hand.

Jessie was an obvious choice for the position of royal nanny. She cared for both William and Harry when they were children, and was a great comfort to the boys as their parents' marriage broke down.

The Princes continue to feel great affection for the 71-year-old, who has no children of her own, and she was a guest at both William's 21st birthday party and his wedding to Kate in 2011.Her last royal appointment was caring for Viscount Linley's two children, Patrick (born in 1999) and Margarita (born in 2002), before she retired to an apartment in Kennington, south London.

"She'll be like a safe pair of hands," Ingrid Seward, author of A Century of Royal Children, told People. "That's preferred rather than someone new to it all, someone who'd be terrified of it all. "While William and Kate were adamant they would care for Prince George themselves in those precious first few weeks, the time is right for them to seek some help.On Thursday, the Duchess will make her highly-anticipated return to the spotlight, as she joins Prince William at the Tusk Conservation Awards; her first official royal engagement since giving birth.
