Elegant Queen Maxima welcomes François Hollande on state visit
21 JANUARY 2014Queen Maxima of the Netherlands looked her stylish self as she welcomed French president François Hollande on his official state visit.
Standing alongside her husband King Willem-Alexander outside the royal palace in The Hague, Maxima radiated a picture of elegance.
The Dutch queen, 42, opted for a pale teal peplum-style dress with cropped, oversized sleeves to host her first official visit of the year. Maxima teamed the outfit with a beige hat and matching coloured clutch, and let her blonde locks neatly fall in place around her shoulders.

Maxima and Willem-Alexander happily posed for pictures with the French president as he arrived for a meeting at the Noordeinde Palace. François was given the official welcome ceremony by the Dutch monarchs, which included listening to the national anthems.
The trio were pictured sitting in a lavish salon once inside the palace, and were joined by Willem-Alexander's mother Princess Beatrix, who abdicated from the throne in April 2013.
François had a busy schedule planned for his one-day visit, which included a lunch with the Dutch monarchs and various meetings on bilateral and economical relations with French and Dutch officials. The president paid a visit to the headquarters of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and was later driven to Amsterdam to visit the National Maritime museum to meet with Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte.

François' visit comes just days after the politician was accused of having an alleged affair with actress Julie Gayet and cheating on his official partner Valérie Trierweiler.
The president has yet to make an official comment on the rumours of his affair, but has said that he will clarify if Valérie will continue to act as France's first lady before he makes a state visit to the United States on 11 February.
