Both the Prince and Princess are expected to attend the final on 10 May, however Princess Mary will also attend the family dress rehearsal for the second semi-final to be held on 4 May.

Her four children, Prince Christian, eight, Princess Isabella, six, and three-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, are all expected to attend.

The Australian-born Princess Mary, 42, will also be able to catch a mid-rehearsal performance from 25-year-old Australian singer Jessica Mauboy, who is a guest performer during the semi-finals.

Copenhagen was selected as the chosen city after Denmark's Emmelie de Forest won in 2013 with 281 points after a performance of her song Only Teardrops.

As a member of the 'Big Five', the United Kingdom automatically qualifies for a place in the final, along with France, Spain, Germany, and Italy.

The UK's entry, female singer-songwriter Molly Smitten-Downes who goes by the singular Molly, was selected to perform by the BBC, and the 26-year-old Leicestershire-born singer penned the track Children of the Universe herself.

Molly said: "To represent the United Kingdom in such a huge competition, not only as a singer and performer but as a songwriter is an unbelievable honour."

"I hope I can do us proud," she added.

Bookmakers have confirmed that the song has been receiving a record number of odds, with a spokesperson for Paddy Power saying: "Patriotic punters are Smitten with Molly - we haven’t seen this level of support for a Brit in years."

He continued: "If the money continues to pour in like this, we could be facing a record Eurovision payout should she win."

The 2014 Eurovision Song Contest will air on BBC One on 10 May and the UK's commentator will be Graham Norton.
