Prince Harry marked a royal first when he posed for his family's first ever GIF. The Queen's grandson gamely posed for the moving video portraits when he visited an inner city youth project in Nottingham – the third time Harry has seen its work.

The 30-year-old Prince was supporting the work of Full Effect, which receives assistance from the Royal Foundation he has set up with Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton.

He was seen laughing and joking with some of the young people who have been trained in filmmaking and production. As part of their training, the teenagers also worked with Dominic West, The Wire actor, who knows the royal from their trek to the South Pole last year.

The project aims to boost leadership skills, gave young people qualifications and bring down gang membership.

The Prince later attended the premiere of a 30-minute film that they produced at the Corner House. Guillemot is described as "a bittersweet tale of young romance set against the backdrop of peers, pressure and a brutally adult world".

Speaking about Harry's encouragement, one participant Danny Mulvany, 16, told the Telegraph: "It's an honour meeting him every time – it's good. I've met him three times now. "It definitely means a lot because we haven't had these things happen for a long time, so for Harry to come back again and show his respect is very good. If you meet him, you'll know he's definitely a good guy."

This was definitely the impression when at Harry's last engagement when he visited runners in training for the London Marathon. He turned out on a dreary morning to watch runners who will raise money for charities that he supports. He joked with them that Prince George would soon by taking part in the event.
