Kensington Palace has announced that Prince William and Kate will undertake an official overseas visit to Canada later this year. It is believed that the Duke and Duchess will bring their two children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, although this has not yet been confirmed.

If the young royals do join their parents, it will mark the Cambridges' first official tour abroad as a family-of-four.

The palace tweeted: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Canada this autumn at the invitation of the Canadian Government. TRH hold very happy memories from their last visit to Canada in 2011 – their first overseas tour as a married couple.

"The Duke and Duchess look forward to exploring more of Canada, from British Columbia to the territory of Yukon, when they return this autumn."

This would be Princess Charlotte's first official tour abroad

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invited the royals and their children to join in the celebrations as Canada prepares to mark its 150th anniversary. The invitation was received earlier this month and since then, William and Kate have been finding the time to fit the tour into their schedules.

This would be Princess Charlotte's first tour abroad and royal watchers are no doubt eager to see more of the little girl. It would also mark the second tour for Prince George, who famously accompanied his parents to Australia and New Zealand on their official visit in 2014 when he was just eight months old.

The family have since travelled as a group-of-four but haven't undertaken long-haul journeys. Their first family holiday with baby Charlotte was to France in March, where they enjoyed a mini ski break in the Alps.
