Joined by BBC Radio 1 DJs Nick Grimshaw and Greg James, Prince William and Kate spent time talking with the teenagers about their various efforts, including Lewis, 15, who despite suffering from health problems has created a social platform for poorly and disabled children, Niamh, 15, who has a rare auto immune illness, as well as Joe, 17, and Toby, 15, who are both active volunteers and fundraisers for Cancer Research UK.

The Duchess looked as elegant as ever, turning heads in a floor-length white Alexander McQueen gown emblazoned with patriotic red poppies, which she also wore to a reception held at Buckingham Palace to honour the Olympic and Paralympic heroes later that evening.

It will no doubt be an exciting month for the Teen Heroes, who will be honoured at the awards ceremony taking place on Sunday. The event will celebrate the exceptional achievements of the UK's unsung teenage heroes as well as featuring special performances from Little Mix, Jess Glynne, and The Vamps.

It's been a busy few weeks for the Duke and Duchess, who recently returned from their royal tour of Canada, where they were joined by their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Since then, as well as a trip to Manchester, Kate made her first solo visit abroad and headed to the Netherlands where she carried out a day of engagements in The Hague and Rotterdam.

Amidst their hectic schedule, Prince William and Kate also made a special joint appearance in London to mark World Mental Health Day earlier this month, joined by Prince Harry. There, they took to the stage to deliver a highly-impassioned joint speech at a Heads Together event, which was held at County Hall on Westminster Bridge Road.

"All of us know someone who has been through difficult emotional times, and we know how hard it can be to see a way forward," Kate told those gathered at the reception. "William, Harry and I feel it is our duty to do what we can, with your help, to shine a spotlight on emotional wellbeing and highlight the support that is out there to prevent or manage the pain at difficult times."
