Britain's Got Talent winner Richard Jones is gearing up to perform some spectacular magic tricks at the Royal Variety Performance in December.

The magician will pull out all the stops to impress the star-studded audience, which will include some members of the royal family.

And if Richard, 26, gets the chance, he'll even ask Prince Charles to get involved.

"It would be great to involve any member of the royal family in one of my tricks," Richard told HELLO! Online. "Prince Charles is actually a member of The Magic Circle, which is something not many people know, so I'm sure he'd be keen to get involved."

Richard has performed for the royals before in his role within the army; in June he acted as one of the The Household Cavalry bandsmen at the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations, Trooping the Colour.

Lance Corporal Jones, as he is known in the army, said: "I've performed in front of the royal family many times before within my army role but never as a magician, so I'm very much looking forward to it! I'm actually working on my act at the minute."

Despite his win on Britain's Got Talent in May, Richard has gone back to serve in the army. It wasn't until he joined the armed forces that he took magic up, performing in front of his colleagues.

"They have always been the main audience for my magic because I always perform for them whilst we're travelling around the world," said Richard. "That's really where it all started and I'm extremely grateful because without them I probably wouldn't be where I am today."
